The Eastern North Carolina Iris Society (ENCIS) will have a fascinating, hands-on program this month: "Paper Making from Iris Leaves", presented by noted artist Susanne Baker of Greensboro.

Susanne received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Alabama with a concentration in book arts, including letterpress printing, papermaking, bookbinding, and paper decoration. She worked as a public school educator for 22 years, teaching English as a Second Language and performing as a librarian. After retirement, Susanne returned to her creative arts passion and developed a home business,

Fibernacci Press,  selling her creations at booths at farmers markets and at art galleries, and taking part in juried exhibitions.

As part of Susanne's program, we will all make our own paper, hopefully a couple of sheets each. This will be a messy process, so wear something you don't mind getting wet. In other words, don't wear your "Sunday Best". All…
